Hey babes… we’re back for collab number 2! Blogger babes Erica of Fashionlush, Lauryn of The Skinny Confidential, and myself will be teaming up each month to bring you a super cute and creative DIY project. So fun!

We’re all totally obsessed with dreamcatchers. I mean, who isn’t. I love adding to my dreamcatcher collection, the more the merrier, right? Dreamcatchers are said to protect the sleeping from bad dreams while letting the good ones through. Sooo… in my mind more dream catchers mean less bad dreams and more dreams coming true ( which BTW they totally are ). I’m pretty sure making your own dreamcatcher makes your dreams come true even faster… so get on it!

1) Wrap your hoop with the suede lacing. Begin by securing one end of the suede to your hoop with a clothes pin so that you can get the right tension. Wrap hoop completely and finish with superglue. Choose a hoop the desired size of your dreamcatcher. If you are making multiples, mix up the size!

2) Time to string it up. Tie your waxed thread around the hoop and between the suede ( ya know, the little cracks where the suede meets up ). Create a web-like pattern by stringing along the outside of the hoop and working your way in, connecting the strings as you go along. This part can get a little confusing. If you need a little extra help check out this site. Remember not to leave too much tension or it will look sloppy.

3) Add your feathers. Gather a few feathers, 3 – 4. Tie one end of suede around the ends of your feather and the other around the bottom of your hoop. Mix up the lengths of your suede so that your feathers all hang at different levels. Repeat, repeat, repeat. The good dreams are said to glide down the feathers to the sleeping person below, aka you!

DIY Critter Dishes

Kikadoo critter dishes

I went totally wild for these cute critter dishes the moment I saw them on Pinterest! I am all about DIY projects… especially ones that I will actually use on a daily basis once they’re complete.

I knew I had to share these cuties with my babe and fellow blogger extraordinaire, Fashionlush. She too fell head over heals… so we decided to do a little collab and bring you the cutest dang critter dishes you have ever laid eyes on! [p.s. stay tuned… this will be the first of many Fashionlush x Kikadoo to die for DIYs.]

I’m always collecting cute little dishes to keep on my nightstand, in my bathroom, by the kitchen sink, etc. My ‘everyday’ jewelry tends to live in said dishes for easy access… hence my instant attraction to the critter dish.

This is such a simple project that requires minimal time and effort yet yields maximum benefits! They also make for a super cute gift. I already gave one to my sis [the elephant for love & luck]. Needless to say, she’s obsessed!

You can whip up a handful of these puppies [or kitties, or zebras, or unicorns… you get the idea] in one crafternoon. I took advantage of my lazy, rainy Saturday and went to town on these cute lil critters.

I picked up most of my supplies at Daiso… the dollar store in Japantown [and one of my fav places].

Not gonna lie… I’m pretty pleased with the finished product! So freaking cute. My rings and bracelets are loving their new homes!

DE.STRESS – D.I.Y. distressed tee..

It’s the weekend… time to de-stress, and what better way than to make your own, custom distressed tee?!

This distressed Balmain shirt will burn a $1625 hole in your pocket… ouch!! Why shell out $1600 big ones when you can do it yourself?!?

Here’s what you’ll need..

+ one cotton t-shirt [any cotton tee will do.. just pick one that you think would be a little bit cuter if it were a little bit beat up]

+ sand paper or a pumice stone.. [i used this one!!]

+ an old textbook or hard covered book.. i used my good old bio book ☺[i NEVER sell back my old textbooks. Too many memories.. does this make me a hoarder?!! or just a nerd??]

Here’s what you’ll do..

+ wrap your tee around your textbook so that you are only working with one layer of the shirt at a time.

+ grab your sand paper or pumice stone and start sanding away.. you will start to see little holes appearing. How quickly this happens will depend on the texture of your tee and roughness of your file]

+ distress your tee to your liking.. [sometimes less is more.. sometimes more is more.. just depends on the style of your tee] & don’t forget the collar!!

+the last and final step is to rock your new, couture, super comfy creation!
