I’ll Cheers To That…

Kikadoo Make My Day Monday Artesa.jpg.jpg

This past weekend was all about family, which is exactly how I like it. The whole crew was in town so we figured we might as well spend the weekend doing what we do best… vino tasting!

Kikadoo Nopalito San Francisco.jpg

Friday night we had dinner at Nopalito. OMG. Let me just say it is now my fav restaurant in SF. The food was to die, the margs were delish and kept on flowing, the service was impeccable, and practically the whole menu was gluten free! We ordered a bunch of tapas… family style, and devoured empanadas, carne asada, tamales, and more. For dessert… homemade dark chocolate cinnamon popsicles. Yum!

Saturday we were off to wine country. It was my nephew’s first wine tasting experience. I mean, I can’t think of a better way to spend your five month b-day… can you?

We hit our favorite spots… Jacuzzi and Artesa. We’re all about the wine clubs… joining really pays off because you get to relax in the private tasting rooms where the vino keeps on flowing. [<– I’ll cheers to that!] The chocolate port shots are an added bonus ;)

We ended the night in downtown Sonoma with dinner at the Swiss Hotel. The food was delish… and so was the champagne gelato!

Cheers to family, food, and fun!

What did you cheers to this weekend?

Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair…

“What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us.”
~Henry David Thoreau

I have been super duper busy over the past month or so [busy in the best way]… relocating to the bay area, looking for a place of my own [a daunting task… I didn’t realize I had to sign away my first born child to rent a place in the city… seriously], spending lots of quality time with the fam [esp my adorable nephew Lucho], and exploring my new surroundings. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by the people I love most, in the city I love most and I can’t wait to see how this next chapter unfolds. Now that you’re all caught up, here it is. My so called life in photos over the past couple of weeks…

Exploring with my sidekick, Frida. She is the Sancho Panza to my Don Quixote. The Ren to my Stimpy. The Pinky to my Brain. The Beavis to my Butthead. You get the picture.

Host and parasite.

The view from my morning run is kind of breathtaking

Spending time with Abuelito in his favorite place on earth… wine country!

Lucho’s [and my] first trip to the Biergarten in SF. He’s breast milk wasted.

Super cool Italian Street Painting Festival in San Rafael. It was about 99 degrees out but totally worth sweating our balls off to see these amazing artists in action. My fav was the pixelated Bert & Ernie.

Frida may be Mexican… but she was looking super festive for the 4th!

I mean, c’mon! This kid is way too cute. I can’t get enough of my little man!

♥ Ode to Lucho ♥

For those of you who don’t already know… I am the proud new auntie to the most amazing little man… Lucho! Today is his one month birthday so it seems like the perfect time to sing his praises! Where do I begin…?

Luis Joaquin was born May 9th, 2013 at 3:47 am and at that exact moment… the world suddenly became a more beautiful place. Lucho has already experienced more love than many will know in a lifetime. There is no better feeling than holding him in my arms and knowing that I will be a part of his beautiful journey. I love this little man more than life!

Ooooh Baby Baby

Last weekend I attended the most AMAZING baby shower [my sister’s!!!] Not only was it wonderful to spend time with my family, our friends, and especially my sis and soon-to-be nephew in her belly {baby Lucho}… but the shower was absolute perfection! We celebrated at the Santaluz Country Club on the most beautiful spring day. It was the perfect setting for the perfect shower. There were so many incredible little details I could hardly wrap my head around it. From my amazingly talented mama’s hand made creations to all of the delicious homemade treats and sweetest centerpieces {designed by my sister’s adorable mother-in-law}… not a single detail went unnoticed.  We had such a great time celebrating. There is nothing like being surrounded by the people you care about most. We can’t wait to meet this little munchkin! Lucho is going to be very loved… he already is! Advanced warning… this post is pretty photo heavy, but this shindig was just too darn cute!

My beautiful sis… she is radiant!

The cutest baby bump! If this is what 7+ months preggo looks like, sign me up…

The spread… so many tasty treats!

Ready to pop! [get it?] <– how cute are these little popcorn bags?!? Handmade by Mama Roof.

These centerpieces are beyond adorbs? Dying!

Let the games begin! Match up the baby picture with the shower guest… so much fun! Can you spy baby Kika?

Baby Lucho Bingo! Fill out the bingo cards with the gifts you think the parents-to-be will receive.

I’m already sooo in love with this little man! Tia Kika is one lucky lady.

If You’re Going To San Francisco…

I know I’ve been a little off the grid as of late… I’m still trying to play catch up after my mini vacay to my favorite city by the bay. I think it’s really important to get away every now and then, to unwind, escape the nuances of everyday life, and reassess what’s really important. Here are some photo highlights of the trip…

and we're off

Annnd we’re off… Frida and I en route to SF!

I was sick the entire trip… as in no voice sick, but I didn’t let it get me down. Alternate forms of communication + sippin’ on some sizzurp.

Nothing s’mores and whiskey by the fire can’t cure.

vino tasting.jpg

Oh… and wine tasting in Carmel. Wine on wine on wine. Love the modern decor.

its a dogs life.jpg

The whole town of Carmel is so dog friendly… even the wineries :) it’s a dog’s life.

A beautiful statue of the Immaculate heart of Mary.

Haight // Ashbury

Love this mural // Trying to speak to my unborn nephew… Hi baby Lucho! Auntie Kika can’t wait to meet you!!

unlucky 27.jpg

Some cool sidewalk art // groovy Ashbury sign // Unlucky # 27… a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and other musicians who lost their lives at the tender age of 27. Tragic and beautiful.

shopping success.jpg

A successful day of shopping on Haight. Got to feed my obsession at the Kidrobot store + picked up some cool new kicks at True SF.

until next time

The trip home is never as much fun… Frida agrees. Until next time SF. Xx.

All good things must come to an end…

Ahhhhhhhhh… Christmas is my absolute FAVORITE day of the year… so it only makes sense that the day after is always a little tough for me. The holiday season is so magical and there is nothing better than having the whole family together! I remain in a state of denial until about mid January when I finally shut off the Christmas tunes and begin my countdown to the following Christmas [[no joke… I have the Christmas countdown app on my phone]] On a brighter note… Santa was VERY good to me this year! Clothes… jewels… and gift cards to fund my shopping addiction for the next month week or so… Frida got some pretty bitchin’ outfits too {hello… can you say teeny tiny Burberry coat?!? She will be keeping warm in style this winter} The gift I am most excited about is my new camera… the Sony NEX 5R! It is beyond amazing and I have shot 100+ pics in the past 24 hours. It is super hands on and techie which is perfect for me and my idle hands. Be prepared… lots of pics to come! What did Santa bring you this year??
