Katie Roof Frida & Me

Lazy Daze Via OnePiece

The-Fashion-Bite-Katie-Roof-OnePiece-Lazy-Daze

Anyone who knows me knows I love nothing more than lazing around with my pup. Whether we’re relaxing on the beach, reading in the backyard, or having a Lifetime movie marathon in bed, there is nothing better than cozying up to my little one while donning my adult onesie. Yep. My onesie.

The-Fashion-Bite-Katie-Roof-One-Piece-Collage

This OnePiece has seriously taken over my life. I live in it. Honestly…  there is just something about being all swaddled up like a big baby. They are super soft, and insanely comfortable! Plus, the OnePiece being sported by some super fashionable celebs such as Vanessa Hudgens, Kylie Jenner, Little Mix, Derek Hough, and the guys of 1D.

Oh… and P.S. Frida and I are obsessed with this stuffed narwhal, or any narwhal for that matter.

How do you like to spend your lazy days??

Today Is Perfect

the-fashion-bite-katie-roof-oneill-today-is-perfect

It may be the middle of February… but here in SD you would seriously never know it! I really can’t complain about being able to soak up the sun and work on my tan in the middle of winter, esp when the rest of the country seems to be freezing their a**es off. Honestly, it makes me feel a little guilty. But whateves, I can’t control the weather… so I might as well enjoy it!

The-Fashion-Bite-Katie-Roof-Hamsa-Gold-Bangles

I’ll admit… even living in the most beautiful city, it can be tough to tear myself away from the computer. Like seriously… it’s a problem. A big one. Buuuuuuut, being an O’Neill Style Ambassador encourages me to do just that… and do so in style.

The-Fashion-Bite-Katie-Roof-Oneill-Floral-Kimono

If you couldn’t already tell… I love throwing on a kimono over about anything and everything… light, breezy, and perfect for this SD weather… year round!

The-Fashion-Bite-Katie-Roof-Fringe-Boots
These new fringe boots are everything… the more fringe, the better IMHO.

The-Fashion-Bite-Katie-Roof-Frida-My-Everything

It wouldn’t be a perfect day if I didn’t spend it with my partner in crime… Frida!

Make My Day: Ode To The B&W Photo

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset

Things aren’t always black & white… or are they? If you couldn’t already tell by my recent Instys, I’ve been REALLY into black and white photography as of late. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s Fall and I’m so over the bright brights of summer. Maybe it’s that my eye is always drawn to the juxtaposition of black and white highlights. Or… maybe it’s just the fact that black is my fav color, or rather lack of color [sorry. always has been. always will be.] Whatever the case may be… I’m into it.

I love photography. You’ll rarely see me without a camera around my neck. I never studied it which is probably why I’m constantly taking photos, learning new techniques, and striving to become better. Photography is so subjective which, to me, is the beauty of it. I think Warhol said it best…

Make Art Andy Warhol Quote

This weekend I laid low [which was exactly what I needed]. I played around with some new g-free recipes [coming soon ;) ] , took a beautiful run through GG park with my ‘niece’ [<–she’s a Jack Russell BTW…  girl can run], babysat my nephew [can you say slumber party??], cuddled with my pup [DUH], watched some Halloween movies to get into the spirit,  and of course… snapped a few hundred pics.

Some weekend highlights via black & white photos… of course!!

Camera and Tripod

[My camera + trusty tripod… dynamic duo]

So… what were your weekend highlights?

Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair…

“What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us.”
~Henry David Thoreau

I have been super duper busy over the past month or so [busy in the best way]… relocating to the bay area, looking for a place of my own [a daunting task… I didn’t realize I had to sign away my first born child to rent a place in the city… seriously], spending lots of quality time with the fam [esp my adorable nephew Lucho], and exploring my new surroundings. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by the people I love most, in the city I love most and I can’t wait to see how this next chapter unfolds. Now that you’re all caught up, here it is. My so called life in photos over the past couple of weeks…

Exploring with my sidekick, Frida. She is the Sancho Panza to my Don Quixote. The Ren to my Stimpy. The Pinky to my Brain. The Beavis to my Butthead. You get the picture.

The view from my morning run is kind of breathtaking

My beautiful niece and nephew… Donatella the wonderdog and Lucho. Two big reasons I’m glad to be back in the bay!

Lucho’s [and my] first trip to the Biergarten in SF. He’s breast milk wasted.

photo 5

Super cool Italian Street Painting Festival in San Rafael. It was about 99 degrees out but totally worth sweating our balls off to see these amazing artists in action. My fav was the pixelated Bert & Ernie.

Frida may be Mexican… but she was looking super festive for the 4th!

I mean, c’mon! This kid is way too cute. I can’t get enough of my little man!

If You’re Going To San Francisco…

I know I’ve been a little off the grid as of late… I’m still trying to play catch up after my mini vacay to my favorite city by the bay. I think it’s really important to get away every now and then, to unwind, escape the nuances of everyday life, and reassess what’s really important. Here are some photo highlights of the trip…

and we're off

Annnd we’re off… Frida and I en route to SF!

sickiepoo.jpg

I was sick the entire trip… as in no voice sick, but I didn’t let it get me down. Alternate forms of communication + sippin’ on some sizzurp.

smoresandwhiskey.jpg

Nothing s’mores and whiskey by the fire can’t cure.

vino tasting.jpg

Oh… and wine tasting in Carmel. Wine on wine on wine. Love the modern decor.

its a dogs life.jpg

The whole town of Carmel is so dog friendly… even the wineries :) it’s a dog’s life.

Some cool sidewalk art // groovy Ashbury sign // Unlucky # 27… a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and other musicians who lost their lives at the tender age of 27. Tragic and beautiful.

shopping success.jpg

A successful day of shopping on Haight. Got to feed my obsession at the Kidrobot store + picked up some cool new kicks at True SF.

until next time

The trip home is never as much fun… Frida agrees. Until next time SF. Xx.

Sick Day Essentials.

Well, I seem to be kicking of 2013 in the same fashion that I begin most years… sick! I don’t know what it is, but I think once the stress of the holiday season is finally over and I give my body a second to relax it hits me like a ton of bricks. Don’t get me wrong… Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, but whether good or bad, stress is stress and the body does what the body wants. Luckily I have a few days to rest and recoup before I get back to the real world… here are a few of my sick day essentials

sickie 3

1) Hot lemon+honey water… a must!

2) iPad to stay in touch with the world around you & keep your brain active – crosswords//scrabble//social media

3) A good book!! Currently reading Earnest Holmes’ The Science of Mind and it is really resonating with me!! Great motivation for a positive new year!

4) TV remote… Duh!!

5) Lots & lots of water… gotta stay hydrated

sickie 2

6) A comfy cozy blanket

7) My favorite cuddle bug… Miss Frida! She takes such good care of me & c’mon… just look at that face!!
