Make My Day: Batkid & Baptisms

[ The view from our church isn’t pretty or anything… ]

So… this weekend was pretty amazing. The whole fam bam was in town for my Grandpa’s birthday as well as my nephew ( & godson’s ) baptism. It was such a beautiful celebration and I’m sorry but my nephew Lucho is the cutest kid to ever walk to planet ( even though he doesn’t walk yet )!!

[ The man of the hour. ]

We kicked off the weekend in Union Square where we got to see the elusive Batkid in action. If you haven’t heard about Batkid a) where have you been, and b) check him out here! Miles is a 5 year old boy who has been battling Leukemia. His wish was to be Batman for a day, and the whole city of San Fran ( along with the Make A Wish Foundation ) pulled some serious strings to make it happen. It was pretty freaking magical.

[ duh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh BATKID ]

We celebrated Gramp’s bday at a San Fran classic, The House of Prime Rib. It was delish, they were super accommodating to my g-free needs, and we had a ball as we always do together! Seriously, my family is the best!

[ My sweet Grampie… 92 years young ]

The baptism ceremony was so beautiful and I feel so so honored to be this little man’s God-mama.

[ I can’t even put into words how much I love this kid! ]

IDK about you… but I’ve never seen a baptism after party quite like this. My sis and bro-in-law really know how to entertain… I’m talking a catered affair by my absolute fav Nopalito… bartender and all! Now that’s my kind of party :)

[ Nopalito’s head chef Gonzalo Guzman comes to all catered affairs to make sure everything is perfect… and it was!! ]

[ The “Lucho Libre” in honor of the baptism boy… a spin on the classic “Cuba Libre” aka rum + coke. ]

I can’t wait to celebrate more milestones with the little dude! So… what was the highlight of your weekend?!?

I’ll Cheers To That…

This past weekend was all about family, which is exactly how I like it. The whole crew was in town so we figured we might as well spend the weekend doing what we do best… vino tasting!

Friday night we had dinner at Nopalito. OMG. Let me just say it is now my fav restaurant in SF. The food was to die, the margs were delish and kept on flowing, the service was impeccable, and practically the whole menu was gluten free! We ordered a bunch of tapas… family style, and devoured empanadas, carne asada, tamales, and more. For dessert… homemade dark chocolate cinnamon popsicles. Yum!

Saturday we were off to wine country. It was my nephew’s first wine tasting experience. I mean, I can’t think of a better way to spend your five month b-day… can you?

We hit our favorite spots… Jacuzzi and Artesa. We’re all about the wine clubs… joining really pays off because you get to relax in the private tasting rooms where the vino keeps on flowing. [<– I’ll cheers to that!] The chocolate port shots are an added bonus ;)

We ended the night in downtown Sonoma with dinner at the Swiss Hotel. The food was delish… and so was the champagne gelato!

Cheers to family, food, and fun!

What did you cheers to this weekend?

♥ Ode to Lucho ♥

For those of you who don’t already know… I am the proud new auntie to the most amazing little man… Lucho! Today is his one month birthday so it seems like the perfect time to sing his praises! Where do I begin…?

Luis Joaquin was born May 9th, 2013 at 3:47 am and at that exact moment… the world suddenly became a more beautiful place. Lucho has already experienced more love than many will know in a lifetime. There is no better feeling than holding him in my arms and knowing that I will be a part of his beautiful journey. I love this little man more than life!
