To Sweat or Not to Sweat… That is the Question.

Soooo… if you are anything like the rest of us, you either had, have, or know someone who has been bogged down by this nasty cold // plague that has been circulating. Ick! It’s a real b*tch. I’ve had it twice this year, but I finally seemed to have kicked it and I’m feeling goooood. I am now convinced that I have total immunity to all strains. With that being said, I often wonder if I should keep working out and just sweat out those nasty bugs… or if I should give my bod a break. In general I feel much better when I work out, in ALL aspects of my life. The endorphins seriously get to me. Today I stumbled upon an article that answered my ‘to sweat or not to sweat’ question. Simply stated… ┬áif you are experiencing “above the neck symptoms” such as a sore throat and the sniffles go ahead and get your workout on. However, if you are suffering from “below the neck symptoms” such as body aches, an upset tummy, or chest congestion then you’re better off renting a good flick, stocking up on some rag mags, and resting up. I think the best thing that you can do is to listen to your body. You know yourself better than anyone else. So there you go, now you [[& I]] know.

Don’t gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold…

I know I have been MIA for the past week or so, but this absence was not without good reason. I was spending time in my favorite city [[San Francisco]] with some of my favorite people. I spent my days there doing what I do best {shopping} to doing something else I do best {wine tasting} to doing something I don’t do very well at all {relaxing} <– I blame this on technology. Though I was sick all weekend and literally had no voice at all for two days {maybe that was a blessing to those I was with as I wasn’t able to sing on our 2+ hour drive into Carmel} I didn’t let it get me down. We had beautiful weather and I had a beautiful time with beautiful people. Detailed post to come, but for now it’s back to life… back to reality.

Hey Kikadoo-ers. Just felt the need to make this PSA… DON’T GET SICK!! Do anything and everything in your power to take care of yourself and stay well! To know me is to know that I am an extremist. I don’t believe in doing anything half way. I’m all or nothing, feast or famine… It’s a blessing and a curse. A double edged sword if you will. [hey, I’m workin’ on it] Anyhow, I guess I am both physically and emotionally in tune because when I get sick… I get sick! I have been battling this wretched cold for over a week now and I’m sorry to say that the end is still out of sight which is why I wanted to ask you to please heed my warning. Eat well, nourish your body and soul, get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids, don’t over exert yourself stay away from people who are sick [and if you are sick, for God’s sake stay away from people who are well, wash your hands & cover your cough] I hope you all take care, stay well, and thrive in the year to come!


Being sick does have it’s up side… cuddling with this little bug all day long!


Sick Day Essentials.

Well, I seem to be kicking of 2013 in the same fashion that I begin most years… sick! I don’t know what it is, but I think once the stress of the holiday season is finally over and I give my body a second to relax it hits me like a ton of bricks. Don’t get me wrong… Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year, but whether good or bad, stress is stress and the body does what the body wants. Luckily I have a few days to rest and recoup before I get back to the real world… here are a few of my sick day essentials

1) Hot lemon+honey water… a must!

2) iPad to stay in touch with the world around you & keep your brain active – crosswords//scrabble//social media

3) A good book!! Currently reading Earnest Holmes’ The Science of Mind and it is really resonating with me!! Great motivation for a positive new year!

4) TV remote… Duh!!

5) Lots & lots of water… gotta stay hydrated

6) A comfy cozy blanket

7) My favorite cuddle bug… Miss Frida! She takes such good care of me & c’mon… just look at that face!!

8) Fuzzy slippers… gota keep those tootsies warm & toasty
