Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair…

“What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us.”
~Henry David Thoreau

I have been super duper busy over the past month or so [busy in the best way]… relocating to the bay area, looking for a place of my own [a daunting task… I didn’t realize I had to sign away my first born child to rent a place in the city… seriously], spending lots of quality time with the fam [esp my adorable nephew Lucho], and exploring my new surroundings. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by the people I love most, in the city I love most and I can’t wait to see how this next chapter unfolds. Now that you’re all caught up, here it is. My so called life in photos over the past couple of weeks…

Exploring with my sidekick, Frida. She is the Sancho Panza to my Don Quixote. The Ren to my Stimpy. The Pinky to my Brain. The Beavis to my Butthead. You get the picture.

The view from my morning run is kind of breathtaking

My beautiful niece and nephew… Donatella the wonderdog and Lucho. Two big reasons I’m glad to be back in the bay!

Spending time with Abuelito in his favorite place on earth… wine country!

Pic of a pic. Admiring the modern art at Artesa.

A champagne toast to the cousins being reunited… and it feels soooo good.

Thank God!!!

Lucho’s [and my] first trip to the Biergarten in SF. He’s breast milk wasted.

Super cool Italian Street Painting Festival in San Rafael. It was about 99 degrees out but totally worth sweating our balls off to see these amazing artists in action. My fav was the pixelated Bert & Ernie.

Frida may be Mexican… but she was looking super festive for the 4th!

I mean, c’mon! This kid is way too cute. I can’t get enough of my little man!

If You’re Going To San Francisco…

I know I’ve been a little off the grid as of late… I’m still trying to play catch up after my mini vacay to my favorite city by the bay. I think it’s really important to get away every now and then, to unwind, escape the nuances of everyday life, and reassess what’s really important. Here are some photo highlights of the trip…

and we're off

Annnd we’re off… Frida and I en route to SF!

sickiepoo.jpg

I was sick the entire trip… as in no voice sick, but I didn’t let it get me down. Alternate forms of communication + sippin’ on some sizzurp.

smoresandwhiskey.jpg

Nothing s’mores and whiskey by the fire can’t cure.

vino tasting.jpg

Oh… and wine tasting in Carmel. Wine on wine on wine. Love the modern decor.

its a dogs life.jpg

The whole town of Carmel is so dog friendly… even the wineries :) it’s a dog’s life.

A beautiful statue of the Immaculate heart of Mary.

Morning hike at Carmel Valley Ranch. The perfect way to start the day.

tella mid air

Tella turns 3!! The birthday girl celebrating in mid-air. This is what happiness looks like.

Love this mural // Trying to speak to my unborn nephew… Hi baby Lucho! Auntie Kika can’t wait to meet you!!

unlucky 27.jpg

Some cool sidewalk art // groovy Ashbury sign // Unlucky # 27… a tribute to Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and other musicians who lost their lives at the tender age of 27. Tragic and beautiful.

shopping success.jpg

A successful day of shopping on Haight. Got to feed my obsession at the Kidrobot store + picked up some cool new kicks at True SF.

until next time

The trip home is never as much fun… Frida agrees. Until next time SF. Xx.

Don’t gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold…

kika and bob collage

I know I have been MIA for the past week or so, but this absence was not without good reason. I was spending time in my favorite city [[San Francisco]] with some of my favorite people. I spent my days there doing what I do best {shopping} to doing something else I do best {wine tasting} to doing something I don’t do very well at all {relaxing} <– I blame this on technology. Though I was sick all weekend and literally had no voice at all for two days {maybe that was a blessing to those I was with as I wasn’t able to sing on our 2+ hour drive into Carmel} I didn’t let it get me down. We had beautiful weather and I had a beautiful time with beautiful people. Detailed post to come, but for now it’s back to life… back to reality.
