HIIT Me Baby


You all know I loooooveeee a good run, and try to get one in on the daily. It clears my head, helps me manage my stress, and sometimes it just feels so good to SWEAT. However, I do think that cardio can be highly overrated… esp. when it comes to the ladies.

Our bodies CRAVE change… so you may actually be doing yourself a disservice by jogging the same old route, practicing the same yoga routine, or hopping on the elliptical daily. It may feel good, and yes, it’s obviously better than sitting on you a**… but your bod is saying “yawn, yawn, yawn”… been there, done that!

So, let’s talk about HIIT-ing the gym to work smarter, not harder ← well, maybe a little bit harder. I’m talking about HIIT – High Intensity Interval Training. Here’s why it’s the bee’s knees…


My fave HIIT workouts of the moment are the “HIIT The Beach” portions of the Tone It Up Beach Babe DVDs… yep, volumes 1 & 2. I’m seriously obsessed. They are about 40 minutes each and inspire a serious sweat sesh. They mix up HIIT segments with toning segments so you end up with a full body workout. They are perfect to pair with more targeted toning routines, a little cardio, or on their own if you’re short on time.


Starting each day with a HIIT seems to be the perfect recipe for health and happiness :) So… what’s your favorite way to HIIT it??


Cheers To A Clean, Green 2014!!


So, we’re all into starting new, feeling fresh, getting healthy, bla bla bla… but once that magical feeling of a brand new year starts to wear of this can be easier said than done… right?

In my opinion it’s all about finding little things that a ) you enjoy, b ) make you feel better, and c ) bring you one step closer to your health and fitness goals.


I must have been a pretty good girl this year, cuz Santa brought me a Vitamix for Christmas. Woohoo. Seriously… best. present. EVER. I have pretty much been juicing, blending, and pulverizing anything and everything I can get my hands on for the past week.


I’m so excited to bring you my favorite new recipes and I’m starting off with my ultimate fave ( and the way I like to start each day )… the Glowing Green Juice. I’m definitely a lover of juice… esp. green juice, but holy shiz… this seriously blows everything else out of the water. Being able to make my own, fresh juice is making me feel like a kid on Christmas every. single. day.


My girl Lauryn was ranting and raving about Kimberly Snyder’s book “The Beauty Detox Foods”. She highly highly recommended it to me so I did what I do best… ran to the store and bought it! She was right ( thx L, xo ). This book is AMAZE! It’s filled with sooooooooo much quality information and I really agree with her philosophy. Also, the back is filled with bomb-ass recipes, including the Glowing Green Juice. So, here it is!


I like to use water, spinach, romaine, celery, one apple, one pear, a splash of lemon, a few ice cubes, and a table spoon of chlorella ← more on that later.

P.S. This recipe will make enough for a few servings of juice. I like to store my leftovers in cute little glass bottles so that I can grab and go, or share with my friends and fam!


If I want it a little creamier I will add a banana. Chia seeds make a nice addition too. If I’m treating myself post-workout, I’ll add some Perfect Fit Protein. Yum. So delish!


This juice is SO refreshing, SO satisfying, and no joke, after a week of sipping it on the daily my skin is seriously glowing.


A total bonus…? Making fresh, healthy food for my pup & my nephew. Their current fave is a puree of spinach, carrot, and blueberries. Mmmmm. Stay tuned for more of my favorite, healthy Vitamix recipes.
