It’s officially offish!! I finally signed the lease to my perfect little beach bungalow. I am over the moon excited… and the best part is, it’s time to decorate!!
This place is so beachy and funky and my head is literally exploding with all of the cute ways I want to dec it out plus some amaze DIYs! I’m feeling super inspired… so stay tuned. In the meantime… scope what I’m totally lusting after… home decor style!
I am kind of obsessed with anything and everything floral these days. I’m usually an über-tomboy… but I think flowers are the easiest way to femme it up a little.
This floral slip dress is seriously to die. It’s so girly and feminine and I feel like I would literally wear it with everything… Docs ✓, knee-highs ✓, an oversized flannel ✓, a slouchy beanie ✓✓✓. I esp. love the lace detailing at the bottom. I was literally about to pull the trigger and finalize my “shopping cart” when I thought… lemme make SURE I can’t find a steal for this bad boy. Lo and behold… I found the perfect one. Sry… but this little number is almost identical. Plus, it’s under $20 bucks. Double score.
Woah, woah, woah… wait a minute. When did it become March? I’m pretty sure I was just stuffing the turkey and trimming the tree… and now we’re heading into Spring ( although the weather may indicate otherwise ). WTH?? Yep… Spring is exactly 20 days away.
So, what’s a girl to do…? Shop, naturally. To me, Spring means flowy dresses, floppy hats, oversized sunnies, tons of fringe, trying to incorporate a lot of little color into my wardrobe, giant bell bottoms, and floral prints for days. I’m building up my Spring wardrobe right now so that when Spring has sprung… I’m ready and waiting!
So, unless you have been hiding under a rock… you probably know that V-day is right around the corner.
Yes. Valentines day may be a cheesy holiday created by greeting card & candy companies to rake in the dough, but whateves. Who cares? It’s an excuse to be girly, wear pink, eat chocolate, and give and get some presies. I’m in.
If you know me but AT ALL you know I may or may not have a little major shopping addiction. This extends far beyond shopping for myself. I also loooove buying gifts. It’s a way to feed my addiction and not feel quite so guilty as I am not on the receiving end.
That being said… here are some of my fav finds for your guy or gal pals for the big V.
If there’s one thing I can’t live without… it’s a good tee. Seriously… I live and die in a good old t-shirt. I’m not just talking any old tee. It’s gotta be softer than soft, fall just right, and look supa phresh!
My favs typically feature one of my favorite bands (preferably from the 70’s), some sort of ironic pun (perhaps about a cat), or a cool, local company.
Soooo… I pretty much like to draw my fashion inspiration from Claudia Kishi of Babysitters’s Club fame. Remember that?!? The best book series / TV show of my childhood life. It was kind of like “Girls”… but minus all the sex and naked-ness. If you were a child of the 80’s / 90’s, you know what I’m talking about.
The 90’s were hands down the best decade as far as fashion was concerned. Some would argue against me, but they would be wrong. Claudia was a hipster-rebel with a passion for fashion, and I’m pretty sure she was only a member of the club to fuel her shopping addiction ( a girl after my own heart ). I mean, money talk$. She had a seriously kick ass Seattle grunge scene thing going on. She always looked like she had just scored at the Urban Outfitters sale, and this is before Urban Outfitters was really a thing. So, cheers to you, Claudia! Thanks for keeping me inspired for all these years :)
4►►► Levi’s High-Rise Cutoff Short $68: Cute, cropped, but not too-too short. Because Claudia wouldn’t be caught dead with her a** cheeks hanging out of her shorts ← not cute.
5►►► Dr. Martens Stratford Leather 9 Eye sneaker Boot $85: These bad boys just came in the mail and I am dying. Obsessed. They go with anything and everything and I plan on wearing the shiz out of them! Claudia would too! ← Bonus… they are floral on the inside and can be folded down. Love.
I love headwear. Period. Especially in the form of a good snapback. Throwing on a cap is definitely my go to move when I want to hit the gym, run errands ( aka shop ), or just don’t feel like spending an hour brushing out my rat’s nest. IDK why… but sometimes I feel like if I’m wearing a hat I’m all of a sudden invisible and can go about my day with no distractions.
Sometimes, however, a hat is not just a cover-up, but rather a strategically placed part of the whole ensemble. I’ve been obsessed with this cutie for quite some time. It pretty much calls my name every time I walk into UO… which is far too often. I will say that this “Real” is totally budget friendly, and if you’re all about rocking headwear I would go for it. However, if you’re new to the hat game and not so sure how often you would actually sport it, opt for the “Steal”. It’s equally as cute for a quarter of the price so you pretty much can’t go wrong.
+ Real: Urban Outfitter’s Profound Aesthetic Portland 5-Panel Hat $42
Christmas-time is in the air! You know what that means… you guessed it. The *NSYNC christmas album circa ’98 will be playing on repeat from now until New Years Day. Totally not kidding BTW, but actually I was thinking more along the lines of SHOPPING SEASON… it’s officially begun. Forget about battling crowds and freezing my a** off on Black Friday. Sounds like an anxiety attack waiting to happen, no thx! I prefer to do my shopping from my fav place in the world… my couch. Cuddling up with my pup, a hot cup of tea, my laptop, and a tacky Lifetime Christmas movie sounds like a wayyyyy better way to spend the day :) Yes, ’tis the season to give, but hey, you’ve also gotta treat yourself every now &then day. Here’s what’s been fueling my Black Friday shopping addiction.
+ [ FXXI ] Modernist Asymmetrical Dress $22.80: Dead. Dying. Done over this dress. Sexy, yet classy for all those upcoming holiday parties… + it’s my fav color. lol. It’s kind of unbelievable in blue too, do I dare?
+ [ Urban Outfitters ] “As If” Fingerless Gloves $16: Anything that keeps my mitts warm and allows me to type simultaneously def makes my wish list. Added bonus… they remind me of my fav 90’s movie. “Do you prefer fashion victim or ensembly challenged?”
So spill, what were your most bite-worthy finds of the week?!
