Make My Day

So… this weekend was pretty much a success. Nice and relaxing with a little bit lot of work thrown in. It’s all about balance ← still tryin’ to figure that one out.

Pretty makeup doubles as home-decor.

Any-hooooo, my bestie and I kicked it off by celebrating Valentines day with some vino and a sappy movie at Cinepolis. If you don’t have a one nearby, all I can say is I’m sorry. It’s the ONLY way to see a movie. Leather recliners, a full bar, and chair service. Check, check, check. Literally all they are missing is someone who can feed me popcorn kernel by kernel and go pee for me during the movie. <– Sorry… but there’s just never a good time to break away.

The perfect pink pout for a night out with your boo… or your bestie!

I’ve always been weird about movie theaters… the sticky floors, the smell of nasty hot dogs in the lobby, and the red cloth seats that just SCREAM “Lice, lice, lice”. Seriously. I always wear a hoodie, but at Cinepolis I can let my hair down ( literally ).

Jewelry organization 101. Obsessed with lucite trays to store all of my pretty things!

P.S. Can I just say that V-day is by far the best day to people watch… esp at the movie theatre. Ugh. Awkward x 1000. Maybe it was just the wine, but my friend and I were literally dying crying. Like dead. There were so many pashminas / prom gowns / ill-fitted suits happening… it’s a movie theater people… not an opera house. Where are the fashion police when you need them?

FAVE find from The Indian Store… a little antler to display my favorite jewels.

We closed out the weekend with a little trip to The Indian Store, which is basically insane. This place overwhelms the shiz out of me. It’s pretty much a gigantic warehouse filled with beads, geodes, cow skulls, antlers, arrows, dream catchers, turquoise everything and so much more. It really gets my creative juices flowing… so stay tuned for some killer DIYs!

The Amethyst is said to carry the energy of fire / passion / & creativity.

A few of my favorite rings ♥

Soooo… what was the highlight or YOUR weekend?!?

Happy Heart Day, Lovers

“Single”, “taken”, “it’s complicated”… who the heck cares!

It’s V-day, babes… so whatever your “status” is… embrace it. Get dolled up, eat chocolate, give a gift, get a gift, drink some vino and CELEBRATE!

Just don’t be a negative Nance. Nobody wants to hear you bitch about your ex or see you cry into your martini glass. Trust. That’s a sure fire way to spend this Valentines day and the one after that alone x a million. Ain’t nobody got time for that! You catch more flies with honey. Am I right, or am I right? { SPOILER ALERT: I’m right }

K… glad we cleared that up.

P.S. If you are reading this you totes already have a Valentine… ME! You guys seriously make my world go ’round!

Gluten Free Almond Butter Love Cups

My G-free valentine, Erica, and I decided to team up this V-day to bring you the tastiest treats. Like, ever. I’m talking home made almond butter cups. Think Reese’s… but healthier and tastier x 100.

These babies are soooo easy to make, it’s stupid. No fancy kitchen tools. No forgetting to pre-heat the oven. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

You only need a few ingredients… most of which you most likely already have in your kitch.

+ A mini muffin tin (liners optional, yet recommended)

+ Chocolate chips (we went with organic semi-sweet)

+ Almond butter

+ Maple syrup

+ Chia seeds or chia powder

+ Pink himalayan salt

+ chocolate chips (we went with organic semi-sweet)

Melt your chocolate chips. You can do this using a double boiler on the stove top or just zap ’em in a microwave safe bowl at 30 second intervals until melted.

Pour your melted chocolate into your mini muffin tins. If you are not using liners, make sure to lightly grease them, preferably with coconut oil. Cover the bottom of each tin with chocolate. Make sure to spread the chocolate up the sides of each mold. This will become the chocolate ‘cup’ that holds your almond butter. Once each tin has been sufficiently chocolat-ed, pop it in the freezer for 30 minutes.

While they are freezing you can work on your almond butter mixture. Mix 1 cup almond butter with 3 tablespoons of organic maple syrup and about a spoonful of ground chia seeds. If you do not want to grind your own seeds, you can use chia powder. Mix, mix, mix until smooth.

Once your chocolate has melted, fill each cup with a spoonful of your almond butter mixture. Top off each cup with more melted chocolate and sprinkle with pink himalayan sea salt. Pop your tray in the freezer for another 30 minutes.

Voila! That’s it. So easy, so festive, and insanely delish. I may or may not have had one for breakfast today. Oops. Not sorry. It wouldn’t be Valentines without a sweet lil treat.

What are your fav g-free recipes?

Lovers & Friends

So, unless you have been hiding under a rock… you probably know that V-day is right around the corner.

Yes. Valentines day may be a cheesy holiday created by greeting card & candy companies to rake in the dough, but whateves. Who cares? It’s an excuse to be girly, wear pink, eat chocolate, and give and get some presies. I’m in.

If you know me but AT ALL you know I may or may not have a little major shopping addiction. This extends far beyond shopping for myself. I also loooove buying gifts. It’s a way to feed my addiction and not feel quite so guilty as I am not on the receiving end.
